Restaurant Guide
Regent China Inn
From the rich broth and velvety cubes to the bits of ham and
scallion, the exquisite winter melon soup is one of the many dishes
that sets this Chinatown restaurant apart from its competitors.
Seafood plays a big role here. A selection of whole crabs cooked
in the shell are sauteed with ingredients like spicy salt and
fragrant ginger and green onion, while steamed lobsters arrive
dramatically in the shell, creating a decadent feast as you extract
the buttery meat and dip it in its garlicky sauce.
There's also a number of scallop dishes you won't want to miss,
like the spicy Szechuan or the beautifully presented scallops in
shredded potato basket. The whole fish selections are freshly
prepared and include cod, red snapper and perch.
Sizzling plates feature beef, oyster, chicken and shrimp, while a
number of hot pots tempt with ingredients like crab and barbecue
pork. Don't miss the restaurant's signature wor wonton soup that
comes in a huge steaming bowl of lovely broth and plump, tender
dumplings. Still, a Chinatown dining experience isn't complete
without sampling the Peking duck , and the Regent China Inn offers an
exquisitely crisp, golden version that melts in your mouth.
The restaurant's huge list of lunch specials presents one of the
best deals Downtown – about $5 with soup and rice. There are more
than 60 options to choose from: the broccoli beef is excellent, as is
the spicy eggplant with minced pork.
Open Sunday - Thursday 11 am - 10 pm and Friday-Saturday 11 am - 11pm.
